Terms of Service

Last updated: April 23, 2026

Thank you for choosing Property Tax Rebel to help you protest your Harris County property tax assessment. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and Property Tax Rebel, LLC ("we," "us," "our") when you use our website and purchase an evidence package.

Plain-English summary: we give you a PDF you take to your property tax hearing. We do not go with you, we do not provide legal or tax advice, we do not promise you'll win, and all sales are final. The rest of this document explains what that means in detail.

1. What we do, in one paragraph

Property Tax Rebel is a do-it-yourself property tax protest tool. For the price on our pricing page, you get a PDF evidence package for one Harris County, Texas property for one tax year. The package uses the Harris Central Appraisal District's own published residential CAMA (Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal) model — the same math HCAD uses to set your value — and produces two legally-recognized analyses: a Uniform & Equal comparison (Tex. Tax Code §41.43(b)(3)) and a Comparable Market Analysis (§41.43(a)). The PDF is yours to use in your own protest at your own informal or formal hearing.

2. What we are not

Property Tax Rebel does not provide legal or tax advice. Nothing on our website, in our free analysis, in the evidence package PDF, in our emails, or in any other communication from us constitutes legal advice, tax advice, appraisal advice, or professional tax-consulting services. If you need advice specific to your situation, consult a Texas-licensed attorney or a CPA.

3. What's included when you purchase

At checkout you choose one of two plans:

What you receive (both plans)

What the purchase does NOT cover

4. How the PDF is generated — our obligations

The math in the PDF is computed by our engine, which:

Our obligation is to produce a mathematically correct evidence package using current data sources. We do not guarantee that HCAD or the Appraisal Review Board will accept the evidence or grant any particular outcome.

5. All sales final — with our satisfaction guarantee

Policy of record: all purchases are final. Please review the free analysis and case grade you received before buying — they exist specifically so you can decide whether the evidence supports a protest for your property.

Our satisfaction guarantee (first charge only)

We stand behind our work. The satisfaction guarantee described in this section applies to your first charge only — the initial $79 purchase, whether you chose one-time or Annual protection. Subsequent annual renewal charges ($49 each March 1) follow the standard cancellation-anytime terms in §17: you may cancel at any point before the next renewal with no questions asked, but renewal charges themselves are not refundable.

If you have any concern with your evidence package — a data inaccuracy, a rendering error, or simple dissatisfaction with what you received — reach out through our contact form within 30 days of your first purchase. We will personally review your case and work to resolve it. Depending on the situation, that may mean:

We treat every satisfaction claim individually and in good faith. We would rather refund an unhappy customer than argue, and we commit to replying to every written request within 2 business days.

Use our contact form and include:

That's all. We do not require proof, affidavits, or hearing documentation for satisfaction claims — just a good-faith communication. The burden is on us to make it right.

6. Case grade is informational, not a prediction

The PDF contains a "Case Strength Grade" (STRONG / EXCELLENT / GREAT / NO CASE) computed by our grading engine across six dimensions: reduction size, data freshness, sample size, method agreement, comp tightness, and risk flags.

The grade is our rules-based assessment of the strength of your evidence. It is not a prediction of the outcome. A STRONG grade means the evidence is compelling on paper; the ARB panel, a three-citizen body exercising independent judgment, may still rule otherwise. A GREAT grade means the reduction is modest but the evidence is still worth bringing to the hearing. A NO CASE grade means the evidence does not support a protest this year.

7. Data accuracy

We use Harris Central Appraisal District's published bulk data, refreshed at least once per protest season and as often as weekly during April–May. We use Houston Association of Realtors Neighborhood Spark MLS exports provided by licensed Texas realtors. Both sources are industry-standard and both publish corrections over time.

If our data is wrong because HCAD's data is wrong, we will correct it when HCAD does. If you believe a specific value in our PDF is inaccurate, use our contact form with your account number and the specific field, and we will investigate within 3 business days. We will regenerate your PDF at no charge if we find an error on our side.

We do not guarantee that every comparable property's attributes (year built, living area, Grade, CDU) match perfectly with reality — HCAD's records are the authoritative source and we inherit any inaccuracies.

8. You are solely responsible for your protest

When you use our service, you are representing yourself in your own property tax protest, as Texas law expressly permits. Tex. Tax Code § 41.45 authorizes a property owner to appear at an Appraisal Review Board hearing in person, in their own name, without hiring a licensed agent or attorney. We provide tools and data to support that self-representation; you are the one conducting the protest.

You — not us — are responsible for:

Our platform does not file your protest for you, submit documents on your behalf, or speak with HCAD on your behalf.

When you purchase, we collect your email address and use it to: - Send you a receipt and a link to your PDF. - Send you a magic-link for re-access during the protest season. - Notify you of significant updates to the platform.

We do not share or sell your email. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Magic links are single-use and expire 24 hours after issue. If your link has expired, request a new one from the dashboard.

You are responsible for the security of the email address you provided. Anyone with access to your email can access your dashboard and download your PDF.

10. Intellectual property

The PDF evidence package is generated specifically for your property. You may: - Print, copy, and distribute copies of the PDF at your HCAD informal and ARB formal hearing. - Share the PDF with anyone you choose. - Reuse any individual fact in the PDF (statutes, factor tables, your own property data) for any lawful purpose.

You may not: - Re-sell the PDF, our software, or our analysis as a product. - Scrape or systematically download PDFs for other properties without purchasing them. - Use our system's output to train a competing automated analysis service.

The Property Tax Rebel platform, website design, source code, CAMA adjustment engine, case-grading algorithm, and template library are our intellectual property.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the PDF beyond its intended purpose — specifically, claims arising because you represented yourself as a licensed tax consultant, agent, or attorney while using our materials, or because you used the PDF in a jurisdiction or proceeding for which it was not designed.

13. Disputes — arbitration + venue

Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved by binding arbitration before the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Rules. Venue: Harris County, Texas. Each party bears its own costs except as AAA rules provide.

You waive the right to participate in class actions. Disputes must be brought individually.

This clause does not apply to: small-claims-court matters (≤ $20,000), claims for injunctive relief, or intellectual-property claims under Section 10.

14. Texas-specific carve-outs

We are a Texas-organized limited liability company. Texas law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code Chapter 17) may provide rights beyond what is stated here; nothing in these Terms waives those rights.

The free analysis shown before purchase is not an offer to provide tax preparation, legal counsel, or appraisal services. It is a product demonstration.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms at any time by posting a new version at https://propertytaxrebel.com/terms. Material changes will be emailed to customers with active purchases. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

The version that governed your purchase is the version in effect on the date you paid, archived by us and available on request.

16. Contact

Questions about these Terms, our service, or a specific transaction: rebel@propertytaxrebel.com — responded to within 2 business days.

For legal notices: Property Tax Rebel, LLC — c/o registered agent on file with the Texas Secretary of State. Email copies may be sent to admin@propertytaxrebel.com but are not a substitute for service on the registered agent.

17. Auto-Renewal Authorization

This section governs the Annual protection plan. Customers who choose the one-time purchase at checkout are not subject to this section and will not be charged again.

Your authorization. By selecting Annual protection at checkout, you authorize Property Tax Rebel, LLC (through our payment processor, Stripe) to automatically charge the payment method you provided the renewal price stated on the checkout page — $49 per year as of the version of these Terms in effect on your purchase date — on or about March 1 of each year following your initial purchase, for as long as the subscription remains active. We chose March 1 because it falls about ten weeks before the May 15 statutory protest deadline, giving us time to pull fresh HCAD data and prepare your package and you time to review and file.

Renewal reminder. We will email you at the address on file at least 14 days before each renewal charge, describing the upcoming charge amount, the property the subscription covers, and a one-click link to cancel. If your card has been updated (new expiration, reissued number), Stripe's automatic-card-updater service may transparently pick up the new details.

Cancellation — any time, immediately effective for future charges. You may cancel Annual protection at any time via (a) the "Manage billing" link on your order-success page, which opens Stripe's Customer Portal, or (b) an email to rebel@propertytaxrebel.com. Cancellation is immediate — the next March 1 charge will not occur. You retain access to every evidence package already paid for during the three-year retention period described in our Privacy Policy. There are no cancellation fees, prorated refunds, or retention calls.

Property transfer. Your Annual protection subscription is bound to the HCAD account you purchased under. We will never silently migrate the subscription to a new property. If you move to a different Harris County property, you may transfer the subscription yourself at propertytaxrebel.com/order/{your-token}/move-subscription (the link is also reached through the Help menu and your order-success page). The transfer keeps your $49/year price; the current tax year's evidence package stays frozen for the old property, and your next renewal generates a new analysis for the new property. Regeneration of the current year's package is disabled after a transfer so the frozen evidence for the old property cannot be overwritten. If you move outside Harris County, cancel the subscription — we cannot yet serve other counties.

Failed renewal charge. If Stripe cannot successfully charge your renewal, Stripe will automatically retry per its configured dunning schedule (typically three retries over one to two weeks). You will receive an email each time a retry fails. If all retries fail, your subscription is automatically canceled — no past-due balance, no collections, no penalty. You keep access to every package already paid for.

Renewal-price changes. If we ever change the renewal price, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the new price takes effect and give you a clear option to cancel before any new-price charge occurs. Price-change notice will be sent to the email address on file.

If we cannot deliver. If we are unable to deliver an evidence package for the renewal tax year (for example, HCAD data is not yet available, or we have stopped serving your county), we will either skip the renewal charge or refund it. We currently serve Harris County, Texas only; we do not anticipate that changing, but if the product moves out of your jurisdiction you are always entitled to a refund of the affected renewal charge.

Satisfaction guarantee scope. The 30-day satisfaction guarantee in §5 applies only to your first charge. Renewal charges follow the cancel-anytime terms above but are not eligible for the first-charge satisfaction guarantee. This is disclosed at the auto-renewal checkout checkbox before payment.

Appendix A — things we explicitly do not promise

Short list of the specific outcome-claims we refuse to make, so there is no ambiguity:

  1. We do not promise HCAD will reduce your market value.
  2. We do not promise HCAD will reduce your appraised value (which is what actually determines your tax bill when the homestead cap applies).
  3. We do not promise the Appraisal Review Board will accept the evidence.
  4. We do not promise a specific dollar savings.
  5. We do not promise that the savings estimate on the cover page matches your actual tax rate.
  6. We do not promise every comparable property we select will survive an appraiser's challenge.
  7. We do not promise the PDF will be generated within any specific timeframe after purchase.
  8. We do not promise the MLS sales data in the PDF is comprehensive — it reflects what HAR Neighborhood Spark exported, which depends on what listing agents chose to report.
  9. We do not promise your tax bill will be lower next year. Tax rates and jurisdiction changes can increase your bill even when the market value is reduced.
  10. We do not promise lifetime access to the PDF. The protest-season download window closes approximately August 31 each year.

Appendix B — what IS promised (the product contract)

What the purchase actually guarantees:

  1. A downloadable PDF evidence package, generated using current HCAD data at time of generation.
  2. A pre-filled Notice of Protest (Form 50-132).
  3. Unlimited regenerations of the PDF for your property for the paid tax year during the active protest season.
  4. Free quality-guarantee regeneration if we made a technical error (per Section 5).
  5. Email receipt documenting the purchase.
  6. Magic-link access from that email for the duration of the protest season.
  7. Platform availability, subject to reasonable maintenance windows.

That's the complete product. Anything beyond this list is not part of what you're paying for.
